Armenia is a land of crystal-clear waters and ancient springs. Due to its mountainous landscape, the country serves as a natural reservoir of high-quality freshwater, which is considered the "Blue Gold" of the Armenian Highlands.
1. Natural Mountain Springs and the "Pulpulak" Culture
Approximately 96% of Armenia's drinking water originates from protected underground sources.
Pure Origins: Water from the slopes of Mount Aragats and the Geghama Mountains undergoes natural volcanic filtration, resulting in a mineral balance that is both healthy and delicious.
The Pulpulak: A unique cultural phenomenon, these small stone water fountains are found in every city and village, providing free, ice-cold spring water to passersby, symbolizing hospitality and the eternity of life.
2. World-Class Mineral Waters
Armenia is home to over 700 mineral water springs, each with a unique chemical composition used for therapeutic purposes.
Jermuk: The most famous thermal mineral water, known for its healing properties for digestive and metabolic disorders.
Arzni and Bjni: These springs are rich in carbon dioxide and mineral salts, widely used in sanatoriums across the country for balneotherapy.
