Paris Misak Herouni (1933–2008) was a prominent Armenian scientist, a doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. His name is internationally renowned in the field of radiophysics for his revolutionary inventions and bold theories on Armenian history.
1. The Scientific Masterpiece: ROT-54/2.6 (Herouni Mirror Radio-Telescope)
Herouni’s greatest scientific achievement is the Radio-Optical Telescope on Mount Aragats, which remains unique in the world.
Uniqueness: It was the first telescope capable of operating simultaneously in both radio and optical ranges.
Precision: The main stationary mirror, 54 meters in diameter, was constructed with extreme precision. This instrument allowed for groundbreaking research in deep space signals.
Global Impact: This invention placed Armenia at the forefront of global radiophysical and astronomical research during the late 20th century.
2. Decoding Karahunj
Beyond radiophysics, Herouni dedicated his life to archaeoastronomy.
The Age of Civilization: Using complex mathematical models, he calculated that Karahunj is over 7,500 years old, positioning Armenia as the pioneer of astronomical thought.
Literary Contribution: His book, "Armenians and Ancient Armenia," is a monumental work where he explores the intersection of linguistics, history, and astronomy.
