Monument to Hovhannes Tumanyan: The Eternal Presence of the All-Armenian Poet

In the heart of Yerevan at Freedom Square in front of the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet stands the monument to the great Hovhannes Tumanyan. Installed in 1957 it is one of the capital's most beloved and symbolic monuments. Created by sculptor Ara Sargsyan and architect Grigor Aghababyan this bronze statue depicts the poet in a majestic standing position. The monument symbolizes Tumanyan's invaluable contribution to Armenian literature and culture. It has become a constant meeting place for Yerevan residents and guests where history literature and modern city life intertwine.
