In the picturesque village of Gosh in the Tavush region lies one of the gems of Armenian architecture Goshavank (formerly Nor Getik). The monastic complex was founded in 1188 by the great thinker legislator and fabulist Mkhitar Gosh. For centuries it served as a vital educational and cultural hub hosting a higher school (university).
